Is a 60-minute massage really 60 minutes?

Yes. We honor your time: a 60-minute appointment means 60 minutes of focused and hands-on care.

How does the membership work?

$110 a month covers one 60-minute session, and $175 a month covers one 90-minute session. You book any therapist and any open time, from the same day up to six weeks ahead. It isn't a standing appointment. Unused sessions roll over for up to three months, you can pause for up to two months a year, and you can cancel any time with 30 days' notice.

How far ahead do I need to book?

While we don't accept walk-ins, we do accept same-day appointments when our schedule has availability. If you have a strong preference for a particular LMT, day or time, it can help to book ahead. We love to accommodate same-day appointments, so check our schedule online or give us a call during business hours to see what is available.

What are your hours?

We're open 9am to 8pm, seven days a week.

Where do I park?

There's a shared lot with about fourteen spaces. When it's full — usually mornings — there's free street parking on 28th and the surrounding blocks. No permits or zones anywhere nearby.

I can't find the entrance.

You won't see us from 28th. Turn into the parking lot at 5120 SE 28th Ave. The entrance is in the courtyard, where you'll find our A-frame and our logo on the glass door.

How early should I arrive?

If you've already filled out your intake paperwork, which arrives by email beforehand, just arrive on time. If not, come about five minutes early so you can finish it when you check in at the console.

What should I wear?

For a massage with oil, wear whatever you like. Your therapist will step out while you undress to your level of comfort, and you'll be under the sheet and blanket, which are your drape, for the whole session.

For clothed sessions, such as chair, foot, scalp, TMJ relief or Somatic Intuitive Healing, wear something comfortable in a material that isn't too bulky or slippery, so your therapist can work through or over it.

Do I have to talk?

No. Some people want to; some want silence. Either is completely normal and your therapist will follow your lead.

What if the pressure isn't right?

Say so, any time. Pressure is a conversation, not a setting — too much, not enough, or a spot that needs more time. You're not interrupting and you won't offend anyone.

Do you tip?

Gratuity is appreciated and never expected.

Do I need a card on file?

Yes, to reserve any appointment. You're charged after your session.

What's your cancellation policy?

Cancellations and reschedules require at least 24 hours' notice. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, and missed appointments, are charged 80% of the service price.

What if I'm running late?

Please call (971) 202-0702. Late arrivals receive the time remaining in their appointment, and the session ends at its scheduled time.

Arriving more than halfway through the appointment time (more than 30 minutes late for a 60-minute session, or more than 45 minutes late for a 90-minute session) is treated as a missed appointment and charged 80% of the service price.

Is the building accessible?

There are no steps to get in; a small ramp bridges the original 1920s doorstep. All treatment rooms are on the ground floor and the bathroom is wheelchair accessible.

If there's something you need to be comfortable here, call and we'll arrange it.

I have allergies or sensitivities. Can you work around them?

Yes. We can work with no scent at all, or with a different oil or lotion. Every essential oil we use is single-ingredient and organic, which makes them workable for a lot of people who react to blends.

I'm autistic / have ADHD / have a trauma history. Will that be a problem?

No, and you don't have to explain any more than you want to.

We don't work from a protocol. Two people with the same diagnosis often need completely different things, so a label doesn't tell us much about you. What tells us about you is you.

So we ask, and we listen, and we change what we're doing based on what you say. You'll be asked before you're touched. You can stop or change anything at any point and you never have to explain why. Feedback isn't an interruption — it's the method.

People call this trauma-informed care. What it means here is that the session is informed by you.

Can I book a massage for someone else?

Yes — gift cards are available for any amount, and can be bought online.

Do you take insurance or HSA/FSA cards?

We don't bill insurance. We are able to accept HSA and FSA cards, however it is always wise to check with your plan to make sure you have the required documents for it to be considered a covered expense.

Do you do groups or corporate events?

Yes, either here or at your location. Email admin@gardenhousepdx.com with your date, headcount and where you'd like it, and we'll put together a quote. Ten days' notice is ideal, though we'll do our best with less.
